Awesome cultural and educational experience! Jane had lots of information about the heritage of Royal Klang and also brought us into the heart of the town and through various markets as well as the Temple. We finished the tour with a tasty lunch (banana leaf rice!) at a local restaurant. Go on this heritage walk and meet some of the sweetest people alive 🙂
This walk surpasses my expectation! So much to discover about the town’s heritage within a short period of time. I learned so much from this walk despite being a local.
If not this tour, I might not have set my foot in Klang. Jane has a great personality for a tour guide and a bunch of stories; however, in order for her to reach 5 stars I’d like to see stronger stories and better time management!
Seeing the loom in the sari shop, and listening to the stories of the Sultans of the past were my favorite parts of the walk. Jane was clear, warm, and genuine — full of knowledge about the town’s history and culture
Jane is a wonderful host. She is knowledgeable and wowed us with behind-the-scenes stories about the places we visited. She was also sensitive to the needs of the group. I enjoyed the Walk very much and learned a lot!
It was such a fascinating mixture of history, culture, and fun! Our guide, Jane, was so informative, warm, and engaging. We got to to discover aspects of Klang that we would definitely have missed if we had visited this town on our own.
Jane is aware of the town’s history in every sense, and the information she shares is from the bylanes of times passed by. I have enjoyed this walk with breaking legs and shiny sun. Loved every bit of it.
It was wonderful to listen to the “behind the scenes” stories and other tidbits from the town as we walked. These fascinating facts about our history add life to the past.
Professionally done and I like it. Keep up the good work and I hope to join other programs.
Its was an eye opening walk, very informative, easy to understand from Jane. Trully enjoyed myself, will surely go again either on my own or with friends, worth the long journey to get there ❤
Our guide on Saturday, Feb 24, 2018 was Alex Raj, originally from Klang, with a passionate personality to share the great things of Klang. We learn that there are 6 guides appointed by Tourism Selangor to conduct the tours. Only Alex is from Klang, so ideally if you are looking to join the tour, aim to join ones by Alex.
1) Explanation is thorough and detailed. Alex did not leave out any stones unturned. For example, we did not know about the origin of Klang, the name.
2) The tour is not just for foreigners. If anyone thinks that, then it is kind of sad. We had 3 participants from Klang, they had no idea on so aspects of Klang prior to joining this tour!
3) The walk is relax, and not stamina straining
4) Alex also kept the participants engaged, there were many times he used us as examples to explain of Klang
5) The access to The Royal Klang Club is unique to this tour, as it is only limited to members.
6) Alex also covered the places of worship in Klang, amazingly, With in-depth explanations.
7) Participants do not feel left out, as Alex would talk to everyone in the tour.
8) Visiting the fire department was a highlight, as I have never been into one before this, more so, getting into the engine!
Our guide is Julie. She is great but wish that we had the opportunity to actually visit the inside of the palace, church and temple. It is an educational walk and opened my eyes to the history of Klang.
Excellent tour with Jasmin, even I myself only at the tour, but will get in touch with other tour guide in future time…
Excellent tour with a super dynamic and interesting guide. Jane really does bring Klang history to life and has boundless enthusiasm and knowledge.
We had a great walk with Raja Shaharil on Sunday. It drizzled earlier in the morning, so it was a cool morning for us, which was superb! Shaharil is an excellent host with many interesting stories to share. We are all local Klang Valley born and bred, but this walk is an eye-opener to the many interesting facets of our local heritage. A big thank you for the amazing planning and execution of the tour! Keep up the good work!
It was an amazing walk. I’d never knew the stories behind those heritage places, until Jane and Julie enlightened me!
Highly recommended. Alex Raj did the tour in very informative manner. I have attended a number of tours, I can say this is the best so far! Best way to learn more about Klang. Certainly, shared to my friends to wait for upcoming heritage walk!
Good free tour, nice and warm tourguide Raja Shaharil Nasir. Many interesting thing to explore, but there’s only one flaw, that the time is too short to enjoy the tour.
Btw, that’s still a vallue tour you must try if you come to Malaysia.
As a local, born and raised in Klang im happy to join this informative trip. From the surface, it gave me a stepping stone to dig a history about Selangor Sultanate and how Klang river gave live to the population around. Thank you Julie for sacrifice your weekend to bring us on this tour.
It was a wonderful experience to be part of the trip. The tour guide, Mr. Alex Raj, was so passionate in what he does which made the tour more interesting because he was able to share a lot of great things. I also got to meet new people and understood more about different culture and history. Thank you!
Me and my parents had a wonderful time with the tour. It was lively and interesting. Mr Alex is an excellent local tour guide. Coming from Klang himself, he knows the local history well and is proud of Klang’s history and its significance in malaysia. I recommend it for both foreign and local tourists.
It was a memorable experience to look around Klang with the guide. Because he explained everything in details. After the walk, I’m sure that I know more about Royal Klang.
Our local host, Shah, showed us around the Royal Gallery in Klang, with lots of interesting details about the rich heritage. He also took us to Little India, the Royal Klang Club, the palace and the fire brigade. It was a nice walk around the city centre and great to have a free guide to tell you the history of these places. Shah was friendly, polite, professional and open-minded. Great way to spend a Saturday morning. Hopefully there will be more guided tours like this.
Jane connects with every one on the walk at same level. She is patient, co-operative and most of all passionate tour guide.
Thank you for making it an awesome walk at Klang

I’ve been on this walk twice and found out about different things each time. Our guide Jane pointed out all the beautiful details of the town, and got us into places regular visitors may not be able to enter. Great to get a glimpse of Klang’s history beyond the food!
Highly recommended! As a local, I’ve learnt so much more about my own country as well as picked up some interesting stories along the way. Our guide was very knowledgable and also entertaining which made the whole tour even more fun 🙂
our guide was Jasmin. she was knowledgeable and interesting and took time to answer questions and tell us fun stories about all the places we visited. the walk wasnt too strenuos and i really really enjoyed learning something new about the city
My husband and I enjoyed this tour, although it was a very hot day, our guide Jasmin, made it very interesting with her humour, local knowledge and the odd questions to test us. We definitely recommend this tour to others. Keep up the good work. Suggestion: a weekday tour is welcome.
We loved our tour! Jasmin was very knowledgeable and funny. It was a great activity for those looking for a different tourist activity or people living in KL and looking for a different kind of day trip! I’d bring more visitors back again.
I really like the itinerary and specially the guide who was very knowledgeable and with a good sense of humour.
Our guide, Shah, was above and beyond throughout the tour and extremely knowledgeable. His friendly demeanour made him highly approachable to anyone in the group. I think he is over qualified though.
The tour was great. Our guide Jasmin was funny, enthusiastic, and passionate about showing the history behind this sleepy city. Highly recommend!
We ended up with Alex Raj, who took us for the guided tour. It was good, he was very knowledgable with lots of stories and information for the tourists. It did run a little long though, we ended at 12.45pm, but the weather was quite conducive. I did wish there was more walking , but I guess everything was quite nearby so in essence there wasn’t a need to walk like 5-8 km or something. A lovely experience overall

May 2017The walk is good, the guide – Jane is excellent (love her). Jane is knowledgeable, experienced and expressive. More of such walks should be made known to the public as well as creating new ones for each heritage towns or kampungs.
It is important that such walks are kept FREE or minimal charge to encourage public to participate and know their hometown and homeland, the people, the various culture, etc.
