India is a subcontinent of nationalities, which celebrates people from different backgrounds, religions and cuisines. My hometown is in Mangalore, the chief port city that lies between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghat mountain ranges. It is located about 350 km west of the state capital, Bangalore.
Mangalore was ruled by several major powers, including the Portuguese, so we are blessed with a diverse culinary tradition consisting of closely guarded recipes, handed down for generations.
In this hands-on cooking class, you will also learn to put a healthier twist to your dishes, so you can feel awesome every day! You can choose from one of the five menus. See menu details below.

Practical cooking class in your host’s home.
Starts from 11.30 am. This is a private culinary experience in local expert's home that will put a big smile on your face. You will learn how to cook delicious Indian meals. I am sure that you will enjoy every bite of it! Pick your ONE menu and taste the best flavors of Malaysia!
Menu 1: Kori Rotti
A delicious chicken curry made with spices and coconut milk. The curry is eaten with crunchy bread called Rotti which is sourced from the market and a staple in most Mangalore homes. Served with a main rice dish, vegetable, salad, dessert, pappadams and a traditional drink.
Menu 2: Pundi
A round, soft rice dumpling that is steamed and eaten with a Vegetable, Chicken or Pork Curry. Served with chicken/ pork/ kidney beans curry, salad, dessert, pappadams and a traditional drink.
Menu 3: Rava Idli with Fish Vindaloo
Soft and spongy steamed semolina cakes eaten with Vindaloo, which is a dish where the meat or fish is cooked with chilli, vinegar and garlic. Served with vegetable, salad, dessert, pappadams and a traditional drink.
Menu 4: Vegetarian Food Trail
This includes a traditional Meal served on a banana leaf and includes Masala Rice, Kadle (black Chickpea curry), Kurumb (traditional Salad), Pachdi (a yogurt salad), dessert, pappadams and a traditional drink.
Menu 5: Desserts To Die For - For The Sweet Tooths (Choose 5)
► Ma’s Coconut Barfi: A delicious melt in the mouth treat made with coconut, sugar and cardamom. ► Panchakajaya: A traditional sweet mixture made during festivals consisting of five ingredients - ‘pancha’ means five in Sanskrit. ► Thandai: A traditional Nutty Drink served during festivals ► Ellu Bella: A combination of sugar candy, peanuts, chick peas, copra, jaggery and somph made and distributed to friends and families during festivals. ► Lassi: A filling dessert made with curds and fruit of the day ► Rose Petal Jam: A wonderful concoction of dried rose petals and brown sugar that tastes heavenly with bread and butter. ► Gadbad: Popular layered Mangalorean Ice cream with fresh fruits, jelly, raisins and nuts ► Royal Pudding: A delicious bread pudding from the Moghul Era guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth. ► Ajamma’s Fruit Salad: A mixture of fruits and spices served with love. An inherited recipe from my grandmother (Ajamma).
