Spend a day with the gentle giants of Laos, learn how to be a Mahout and take a splash with your elephant in the Nam Khan River.
Laos is historically known as The Land of a Million Elephants. Once surrounded by large fields filled with wild elephants, they were used to transport the royal family and for military purposes. Today, their population is dwindling due to loss of habitat, and many are made to work in the harsh logging industry.
Elephant Village is a sanctuary for rescued elephants with the goal to protect and rehabilitate these animals through responsible tourism. Our howdah free practice means the elephants would not have painful seats strapped on them. They are cared for within a lush environment with an onsite veterinarian.
Now you can get up close to elephants and learn the basic commands used by Mahouts. You can ride your elephant to the river and give them a bath!
After that, you can take a boat ride to the Tad Sae Waterfall and chill in the water before ending your day.
