At Santika, you would indulge yourself in Malaysian traditional culture and heritage.

You would be prepped for a wedding ceremony, with our traditional attire on. The entourage will be followed by a group of men playing Kompang, our traditional instruments heading to our wedding venue (which is the traditional house).

After the wedding is over, you would head over to play Malaysian traditional games! From Congkak, Tarik Upih, Terompah Gergasi, Baling Selipar to Galah Panjang. Games which is no longer being played by the Malaysian millenials.

You will then experience the Javanese traditional festive dish which is known as Nasi Ambeng. You would experience eating like locals using your bare hands, sitting on the floor sharing a big plate (tray).

    You will be picked-up by our bus driver or by car. You should be informed about this prior to the event day.

    Santika Heritage Tour starts:

    On arrival, you would be required to wear our traditional clothing and you could experience these activities;
    1. Try on our traditional attire (Songket, Baju Kurung and Baju Melayu)
    2. March towards the bride's house accompanied by a local kompang group
    3. Wedding reception
    4. Traditional house visit
    5. Introduction to local cultures (Malay) and the sub-culture (Javanese-Malay)

  • 11:00 AM Santika Heritage Tour (Contd..)
    Still at the same location, but this time you need to change your gears because we are going to play the Malaysian pastime favourite traditional games!

    This is very unique because you won't find this being played anywhere else in Malaysia other than in Santika Hulu Langat.

    Next, you will enjoy Nasi Ambeng.

    Nasi Ambeng is a fragrant rice dish that consists of white rice prepared with chicken curry (gulai ayam) or chicken ungkep (ayam ungkep) or chicken rendang, mixed vegetables (keluban), sambal goreng, bergedel, some salted fish, fried coconut flesh, and many more.

    It is a popular Javanese cuisine, especially in the Javanese-Malay communities in Malaysian states of Selangor and Johor, Singapore and also in the island of Java, Indonesia where it originates.

    It is served in a tray during the festivities and enjoyed together by a family of four to five people

  • 01:00 PM Batik Colouring
    Batik is the arts of Nusantara. Malaysia and Indonesia shares Batik but the difference is that Malaysian Batiks tend to use floral motives.

    Here, the Batik artist will make a free style Batik drawing and the visitors are only required to colour the Batik.

    The Batik then can be brought home as a souvenir!

    Malaysia is famous for its foods! Even though you just had your Nasi Ambeng just now. We will serve you snacks like Rempeyek, Tumpi, Ubi Rebus, Goreng Pisang, Goreng Cempedak etc.

    Depends on what we have on that day!
  • 02:30 PM Magical Herbs Garden
    After that, you will board the bus and go to Sungai Congkak for a magical herbs garden experience!

    At Kem Herba, you will find a plant enthusiast and expert, Dr Mohd Noor Shamsuddin who is a forestry expert.

    One of many interesting things he will show you is "miracle fruit" where all sour fruits will become sweet once you have had the "miracle fruit".

  • 04:00 PM Dip & Departure
    If you have time, you can just dip your feet into the river stream at the front of Kem Herba.

    After that, our driver will send you back to Kuala Lumpur!

    Please bring insects repellant if you're sensitive to insects. We are not going into deep jungle, we are just going into a nice village but as Malaysian always say "sediakan payung sebelum hujan" (Bring an umbrella, in case it rains).
