Cycling from Vientiene to Ban Mai
Meet at 9am and begin cycling out of the city. As you reach the countryside, cycle along the Mekong River to enjoy the beautiful views of the river and the neighbouring Thailand. Head towards Ban Tong Pong Village, surrounded by peaceful paddy fields. Cycle down dirt tracks through rice fields and a forests, then back to a tarmac road that stretches towards the Tad Moun stream. This is a popular place for locals to spend the weekend. You can splash around here or, during the dry season when the stream is completely dry, see the different rock formations. There will be time for a quick break paired with a cold drink.
Kayaking from Ban Mai to Vientiane
Finally you will ride to Ban Mai village by the banks of the Mekong. You will have a lunch of sandwiches, crisps, fruits and a cold drink by the river. After lunch, you will put on your lifejackets and kayak down the Mekong River back to Vientiane. Along the way, you will experience the beauty of rural Laos, from river islands, to fishermen on their boats, women panning for gold by the river, and the winding along the border between Laos and Thailand. Once we reach Vientianne, we end our adventure at a riverside bar outside the city centre. From here, you will be collected via truck and taken back to your hotel in the afternoon.
