The Xe Pian National Protected area is famous for its extensive wetlands which are home to rare wildlife as elephants, gaur, sun, Asiatic black bears and the yellow cheeked gibbon. This exciting expedition takes you through this fascinating area on a long but easy trek, giving you plenty of opportunities to see the wildlife and visit ethnic villages as well as the amazing experience of overnight camping in the middle of the jungle!

Pakse > Kiet Ngong> Xe Pian National Protected Area
Starts 8.30am Ends 5.30pm - Depart from Pakse to Ban Kiet Ngong via local transport : this village lies on the edge of the Xe Pian National Park and is where we will meet our local guide. - Briefing about the forest, wildlife and different uses of plants for use as traditional medicine. - Begin trekking through the forest and into the nature reserve : watch the wildlife such as elephants working in the jungle - Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in the midst of the forest accompanied by the sounds of the rustling leaves - Continue trekking through the thick jungle : observe the many different types of birds and if luck permits you may catch a glimpse or two of monkeys passing by - At around 4:30 pm, set up our camp for the night, we spend the night in the middle of the jungle and enjoy a dinner cooked over the campfire! Approximately: 1.5 hours transfer, 5 hours trekking

Starts 7.30am Ends 5.30pm - Wake up early to the sounds of the jungle and enjoy a hearty breakfast - Start trekking and discover the Xe Pian wetlands : enjoy an area of jungle which is rarely touched by outsiders - Walk through the forest until stopping for a picnic lunch : take your time to relax and rest before we continue the journey - Trek through the forest of gigantic ancient trees and many small rivers : home to people of the Mon Khmer ethnic group around a 100 years ago, now the abandoned area becomes the Mecca for wildlife! - Arrive at the Nam Ta Euang river : take your time to relax and unwind at this beautiful spot amongst some perfect surroundings where we shall set up camps and spend the night. Approximately: 5 hours trekking

Starts 7.30am Ends 4.30pm - Early start of the day with a hearty breakfast cooked over the campfire - Watch and listen to the birds around us feeding in the trees, grab the chance to see and hear the rare yellow cheeked gibbons who lives in the area - Startwalking through the forest along the banks of the Nam Ta Euang river. - Visit the stunning Phou Asa Temple before heading through a thick bamboo forest - Stop for a picnic lunch and head back to Ban Kiet Nong - Return to Pakse Approximately: 5 hours trekking, 1.5 hour transfer
