Khammouane province is a paradise for kayaking and rafting as a massive network of clean and unspoilt rivers and streams awaits you! This trip takes you through some unique sceneries and into the heart of the largest mountain range in the whole country!

Thakhek > Ban Haiphavieng > Ban Elan > River Island
We begin the day at 8:30am for transfer to the small village of Ban Haiphavieng in Nyommalath district. The journey is about 90 minutes and takes us through some beautiful scenery! Upon arrival in the village, you will receive a safety briefing and introduction to kayaking before it is time to embark on our trip downstream with the kayak! The first leg of the trip leads us through some thick lush tropical vegetation. Along the way we observe the various types of colorful tropical birds which live in this area. We continue on kayaking until lunchtime when we stop on the riverbank at Ban Nakhai to enjoy a picnic and spend some time to relax and swim in the river. After enjoying our lunch and relaxing for a while, we continue onwards for around two hours until arriving at a river island. Here we stop and set camp on this beautiful island. We enjoy dinner cooked over the campfire and spend the evening relaxing around the fire. Approximately: 1.5 hour transfer, 5 hours kayaking
River Island > Pha Nongkhanoy > Ban Kengsavang > Thakhek
Wake up to the beautiful tone of birds happily singing amongst the trees and enjoy a hearty breakfast before boarding our kayaks and heading off back downstream. We cruise downstream to Mahaxay and on the way passing through some of the most beautiful scenery of the region with limestone cliffs, thick tropical forests and towering mountain peeks including Pha Nongkagnoy and Pha Pakgnom. As we continue onwards, we see children swimming in the river and locals fishing using traditional methods. We stop for lunch at the small village of Ban Dang and after which, it is only a short paddle to Mahaxay where the trip ends. Here a vehicle awaits us in order for the transfer back to Thakhek. Approximately: 45 minutes transfer, 6 hours kayaking
