Cool down in the highlands! Drive up to the Bolaven Plateau, a place high above the Mekong Valley known for its temperate, coffee plantations and waterfalls. Rivers run off this high plateau in all directions and then plunge out to lush forests in a series of spectacular cascading waterfalls. Besides that, spend time living the footsteps of the minority groups of Laos, including the Mon Khmer and Ngae.

Itinerary

Day 1


Pakse Paksong > Tad Fan Waterfall > Tad Yeung > Ban Kun Done

Starts 8.30am Ends 5.00pm - Depart from Pakse to a small village famous for knife making: watch the production of knives using traditional techniques - Visit some tea plantations: see how tea is grown and produced - Arrive at the stunning Tad Fan waterfall: explore the local area which is home to coffee plantations - Head on to Tad Yeung waterfall,where we shall enjoy lunch and take some time to relax or swim etc.. - Head onwards to the fascinating Paksong Market which sells a great variety of different products and is a great place to look around! - Visit the ethnic Mon Khmer village of Ban Kundone: spend a night at the homestay here and learn about this group who are of Cambodian heritage and have a completely different culture and language to that of the majority Lao people. Approximately: 5 hours driving, 2 hours walking


Day 2


Ban Kun Done > Ban khiengTang Lae village > Pha Suam Waterfall > Pakse

Starts 8.30am Ends 5.00pm - Enjoy a hearty breakfast with the family - Discover of many different minority villages of Mon-Kmer Alak. Oiy Ngae. - Head to Tad Lor waterfall where we start our trek passing Tad Hang waterfall to Ban Khieng Tang Lae village, Ngae minority group where we can see different life style of each minorities. - Have a Lao-style lunch at local restaurant - Continue onwards to Pha Suam Waterfall to enjoy the falls and the breeze - Return back to Pakse in the late afternoon. Approximately: 3 hours driving, 2 hour trekking, 1 hour sightseeing
