Run away from the unmoved city. Although there’re better resource and developing space, it constrained my soul that thirsts for freedom. Hence, I decided to go home. My hometown, Kuala Kubu Bahru, only one hour away from the city, having an entirely different aura compare to the city. She’s located at the foot of Gohtong Jaya.
Away from the city, I chose to be back here and begin this cultural journey, which is how Ilmio Cafe came about. It’s strange how both famous shops are opened by Hainanese even though Kuala Kubu Bahru is said to be a Hakka village. For instance, Yut Loy Kopitiam is famous for their coffee, Teng Wun Bakery & Confectionery is known for their Kaya Puff and Kedai Makanan Teo Kee that is popular for their braised dishes and pickled vegetables. Don’t forget the bread we used to eat when we are younger. All these are signature local delights. I wouldn’t say we have the most authentic Hainanese coffee or chicken chop. But I wish I can listen to some music in this peaceful place, having a cup of coffee alongside my mum’s Nasi Lemak Rendang.
So, leave the bustling city and join us in Kuala Kubu Bahru with all the nice food and beautiful scenery. Plunge into nature’s embrace now!
