Gamelan (translation from Javanese: beaten or struck) is a traditional music which originated from Indonesia. As the Javanese migration happened in 14th century, this music has been brought to Malaysia. In Malaysia, It is divided into 2 types – Johor Gamelan (Javanese Gamelan) and Terengganu Gamelan. This music requires a set of musical instruments, which are made from iron or brass and wood.

Here you will get to learn how to play and experience Gamelan!

Let's get started with introduction & practices!

Workshop duration: 4 hours
You will be briefed with a 30-minute introduction on theories related to Malay Gamelan Music, its functions, and how to be played, followed by interactive practical session with an experienced guide.
