Bamboo charcoal, as according to its name, is made from bamboo trees. These bamboo trees are widely available especially in an optimum environment that could provide water and consistent temperature, such as in tropical rain forests. After the collection of these valuable bamboos, they will be cut into pieces followed by placing them to be burnt under a range of high temperature for a period of time. After they have been cooled down, the results will be bamboo charcoals.
Different than wood charcoals, bamboo charcoals are much more environmental friendly and inexpensive in terms of the quality, life span, as well as the composition of carbon is much more higher and concentrated as compared to wood charcoals. The bamboo itself serves as a natural filter which it could purify surrounding air as well as water. Bamboo charcoals are much more popular in countries such as Taiwan and China, unfortunately its popularity is not that good in Malaysia despite of the source of bamboo is easily attainable.
In this workshop, you will get to learn and understand on what and how are the bamboos obtained, the way and process to produce bamboo charcoal, finally, to draw on the available bamboo charcoals with your creativity.
