Chinese Tea Ceremony has been practised for centuries, but is slowly forgotten within the younger generation. Join my experience to discover the art of traditional tea in the comfort of my vintage home.
I fell in love with the tea ceremony after meeting a young monk in Penang, who introduced me to the basic tools, as well as how to brew, appreciate and drink tea. Apart from being a tea lover, I am also an antique collector, so in this experience I will welcome you into a traditional Penang fishing village house for a tea ceremony.
I will first bring you around the historical neighbourhood, before heading to my vintage home. After an introduction to the architecture and my tea collection sets. You will learn about the basic tea brewing tools on your personal tea set-up. Learn the basic etiquette and how to behave with your tea set. You will leave with a deeper appreciation and respect towards ceremonial tea brewing.
I will also be giving a demonstration on how to brew tea and why certain steps and movements are necessary to the taste of each tea. Here, everyone is given a chance to personally brew 3 different teas. A tea lover or not, this experience will show you the beauty of the traditional Chinese custom that is dissipating from our world.
