As our only means of transportation, we will be taking longboats to our campsite located by the banks of Sungai Tembeling and is upstream in a river as wide as a football field surrounded by lush rainforest. A unique campsite specifically chosen by our guide, we will pitch our tents on the river sands and after the sun sets, enjoy the dark night with sounds of flowing river and the jungle orchestra, lighted up only by the moonlight and campfire.
We start off with Bukit Teresek, at 344 meters and just slightly taller than Menara TM, it has 2 look out points. From the first point, a small section of Sungai Tembeling and the park boundaries can be seen. At the second point, take in the spectacular views of the park including Sungai Tahan. And if the weather permits, Gunung Tahan – the highest peak in Peninsular Malaysia.
From there, we will visit what’s regarded as the longest Canopy Walkway in the world. Stretching at a half kilometer long and 40 meters above forest floor, it is an iconic structure to the park. Most of the platforms are high up among the trees and NO nails are driven into them. A popular place for bird enthusiast, both these attractions gives great introduction to the highlights of what the
rainforest has to offer.
Not to be missed is the most photographed area in the park and one of its jewels, Lata Berkoh. It offers picturesque scenic of lowland dipterocarp and riverine forest. The rock formation of the cascade here creates a natural jacuzzi and the bubbling waters provides an invigorating natural spa bath.
And of course, no trip to Taman Negara is complete without visiting the Kelah Sanctuary located in Lubuk Tenor. Get the opportunity to get up close with our very own ‘Malaysian Salmon’ at its natural habitat. While here, enjoy a swim with the fishes while we feed them and have a relaxing meal before we head back to KL.
