Famous Homes of Early Georgetown Settlers
Visit Clan Jetties living heritage houses where people lived along the waterfront of Georgetown for over a 100 years followed by a tour of the former house of the richest man in Penang when he was alive - Captain Chung Keng Kwee (1821-1901). Today, this place is the renowned Pinang Peranakan Museum displaying Baba/Nyonya antiques and its cultural attraction.
The origin of this mixed cross culture evolved from the cohabitation between Oriental Chinese and the locals since the 15th century.
We continue our tour to the Khoo Kongsi clan house/temple. A magnificent place and indeed one of the grandest Chinese clan/temple found outside China.
Up next, we visit the Thai and Burmese Temples located on the same road. See the 100 ft reclining Buddha with its eye white and toe nails made of mother of pearls. Take a look at the Panca Rupa - the guardian of the world. Throw a few coins into the Fountain of Life to receive blessings and good luck. Appreciate the life journey of Buddha from the murals on the wall.
