Close by, there is the Queen Victoria's Fountain, an art nouveau fountain that was made to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. You can see the Royal Selangor Club oppsite the square, a mock Tudor building that used to be a haunt of the British elite.

Take a virtual walk around the historical square, which has seen some of the country’s most significant events, such as Malaya’s Declaration of Independence on 31 August 1957. Every year it is comes to life with the colourful National Day Parade.
