Surrounded by the natural beauty of a lush mangrove forest, Ar Rahman Mosque sits upon a small, picturesque island in Pulau Gajah. It can accommodate about 1,000 worshippers. Constructed in 2016, the intricate design of the mosque takes its inspiration from Indonesia, Morocco, Yemen and Turkey. The pillars are made from Middle Eastern palm trees, while the Quran drawings originated from Turkey. There is also a drum in the courtyard brought in from Indonesia. Most of the khat carvings in the mosque were meticulously hand carved by skilled Indonesian craftsmen.
