Concubine Lane is a historical street peppered with little shops selling snacks and souvenir, a boutique hotel and restaurants - naturally becoming a popular tourist destination.
In 1892, the area was rebuilt with shop lanes after a fire wrecked the town. According to local stories, it is one of three lanes gifted by a mining tycoon, Yao Tet Shin, to his three wives. They are aptly named Wife Lane (Lorong Hale), Concubine Lane (Lorong Panglima) and Second Concubine Lane (Market Lane).
