Before the Petronas Twin Towers was constructed, this old station was among the most iconic symbols of the capital city. The Kuala Lumpur Railway Station is a Moorish and Mughal-style building on Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin. It used to be KL’s main railway hub, the busiest in Malaysia until this role was replaced by KL Sentral in 2001. The Heritage Station Hotel that used to stand here also closed down years ago. Today, it houses the administrative head office of the Keretapi Tanah Melayu. Designed by A.B. Hubback in 1910, the Victorian-style railway building with elegant pavilions is a beautiful example of colonial architecture in Malaysia. Its fairytale-like quality makes it a popular photography spot.
